Rivian Forums Owners Club - R1T Pickup and R1S SUV Forum

The Rivian Owners Forums are now back online! The forums were offline for awhile as can be seen by the legacy threads and member communications, but hopefully we can begin growing again and be a great outlet for all current and future Rivian owners without being force fed ads all in your face as other forums out there do.

Will Rivian's success be in simply selling the "skateboard" platform?

Good article here: http://www.wglt.org/post/big-if-tru...YfY-HvqOuGOg6RVvJHZQNhKn3tH-tyoto4YQ#stream/0

“(Rivian) would be just as happy to sell the platforms, because that’s where most of the value is anyway. They can sell the skateboard platform, or have somebody else utilize it, as opposed to selling the complete vehicle. That would help them utilize that plant and get more production out of it,” Abuelsamid said. “Because they’re on their own, they’d probably struggle to gain much of a foothold (selling vehicles). Truck buyers are notoriously loyal in staying with a brand for many, many years.”

Wonder if Rivian would have major success in simply selling their skateboard platform? Interesting though that I didn't even think of until after this article. I know Atlis was boasting about selling their platform but had no idea Rivian was doing the same. Amazon could essentially electrify their cargo delivering vans and keep Rivian busy.

Amazon is not stupid (obviously) and everything they do now is only for their future interests. They will definitely use Rivian's technology on their delivery fleets wether it be that skateboard platform or an upcoming vehicle in the pipe line. Who knows, Rivian could be developing an electric cargo van to compete against Daimler.
